LIFELONG WELLNESS PAPER --- HLAC 1096

I learned a lot about lifestyles and wellness from taking this class. My wife is getting her degree from BYU in Public Health, so with the help of this class and her encouragement, I have been able to change some of my bad habits. It's been a slow progress, and old habits are hard to break, but I have seen improvement. This class has also taught me a lot about the body and how to plan workouts and meals which have been very beneficial. I took this class at the right time; I just got married over the summer and by taking this course along with eating my wife's new ultra healthy meals, I have learned how to make better choices when eating and how to be able to perform my best.

Like I have stated above, I've learned a lot about health and the importance of having a healthy body. I have never been super interested in health or the body, but because of this class (and my wife) I have started to make permanent habit changes and have taken a big interest in the human body. So much so that I'm actually taking a human biology class next semester. The class was basic enough that I was able to learn and stay focused while I didn't feel like the information we were learning about was way over my head. The information we learned was very applicable in my life and I've found myself thinking about the questions on the quiz when deciding what to eat or how much I should exercise.

I have always been a pretty active guy, I was always involved in sports in high school and always playing pick-up games on the weekends with my friends. But as I've started to work full time and go to school in the evenings, it's been harder to find time to exercise. However, I know how important it is for my body and my mental health to get outside in the fresh air as much as possible. I have a major intention to stay active, even if that means just walking around the block after classes at night. Exercise will continue to be a major part of my life and my relationship with my wife… I'm lucky to have a wife that loves sports as much as I do.

I liked this course a lot. It was very organized and well put together. The assignments were clear and (like I've stated above) weren't so over my head that I felt frustrated, stressed or overwhelmed, which I really appreciated. I don't have many ways to improve the course, the one thing that was a little confusing were the quizzes. They seemed to jump around in the book from one chapter to one way later in the book. But now that I think about it, it might have just been that I bought the wrong edition of the book. Other than that, I really enjoyed the class. I learned a lot, I felt competent, I have changed my lifestyle in several ways and I was able to complete an online class that I didn't feel overwhelmed with. Thank you!
